The department was established in 1974 & prof. a.K. Bajaj was the faculty & head up to 1985 when Dr. K. G. Singh joined him. On the retirement of Dr. A.K. Bajaj in 1997 Dr. K.G. Singh took over as head of the department. At present Dr. K.G. Singh is working as professor & head Dermatology along with additional charge of superintendent in Chief SRN hospital and SN Children hospital. Dr. Sudha Yadav joined the department in 2006.

Till date the department had published more than 150 papers in various national & international Journals. The department has already made its name at national level in the field of Contact dermatitis & Dermatosurgery.
