Originally the department of T.B. & Chest Diseases was a part of the department of Medicine.  Later by the active efforts of Dr. S.K. Jain, the department was separated in 1974 & started functioning independently. Professor S.K. Jain was the founder head of Department who worked for 2 decades. After his retirement, Professor A. l. Dubey took charge & continued upto April 2006. Thereafter the present head Prof. R. L. Agrawal took over. Post graduation courses with 2 MD & 4 Diploma seats annually were started. Till date, 54 MD and 35 diploma students have passed from this department. The Diploma course was discontinued in 1991.
