Eye Care Training Centre (ECTC)
Government of india, Ministry of health
and Family welfare has nominated the, “Regional Institute of
Ophthalmology” as a centre to train, faculty members of
other medical college and medical officers in
Phacoemulsification, SICS, Glaucoma, medical retina,
paediatric ophthalmology etc.
Patient Care
(i) OPD- the regional institute of ophthalmology has annual
attendance of around 200000.
(ii) IPD- approximately 14,000 cataract surgeries per year
are done. this is the highest
number of cataract surgery being performed by any
of the state medical college in up.
(iii) Apart from this various specialized and referred cases
are also examined and treated
in various special clinic being run at the
department as under -

The hospital has got fully air conditioned operation theatres incorporating 7 operation tables with latest and technically most superior world class Ziess operating microscope. Recently one more operation theatre has been constructed with requisite equipment and various specialized surgeries have been started in the operation theatre. It is also equipped with a rural ot where patients of eye relief camps are being operated. every patient of camp is being operated by SICS technique with intraocular lens implantation. all the medicines and lens are being supplied free of cost to the patient.
