Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology

The department was established in 1961 at Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital under the headship of Dr. V. Sawant. Postgraduation was started in 1965.The department was shifted to S.R.N. Hospital in 1976 under the dynamic headship of Padmashri Dr. Raj Baveja ,who developed the department with indoor, outdoor, elective and emergency services. Even today, clinical expertise is provided to Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital by the consultants of the department.

Besides this now the department is having the following units:

· Postpartum Unit, providing sterilization, MTP's, Contraception, JSY schemes and Pulse Polio Programme.

·         ICMR Unit under HRRC having multiple projects.

·         PPTCT centre catering all antenatal and other clients.

·         STI Clinic

·         Colposcopic Unit

·         Ultrasonography Unit

Presently the department is headed by Prof. Ragini Mehrotra.
